Hi Troy! I have a question for you…I figure that you are probably up to speed on internet copyright rules far more than someone like myself. Would I be allowed to use any of the pics from your Caturday’s Astronomy Pix in a blog post if I properly show the credits just like they’re listed right below the photos? Is there more to it, or are they off limits, except in the exact manner that you show the pics? I apologize for bugging you about this, but I try to be careful and I don’t want to steal unwittingly. The pics that you share are so incredible and I really appreciate them. Come to think to think of it, I really love your fractals too. Do you ever allow people to use them as images in their blog posts, so long as they properly credit you? I don’t mean to be too forward…I just thought I’d go ahead and ask…thank you, Zor’ra
My advice for the onsite images I use for the Astronomy Pix is to credit them as they’re shown. I use the Zemanta add-on for my browser, and based on what I type into it, it selects and automatically credits the images that I click on.
As for my own work, I only get really protective of the full-sized images I make for commission, some of my deviantART posts and prints made for public display. Otherwise, I don’t mind people using my work as long as it’s credited, and some (like the wallpaper images I sometimes post on this blog) are released into the public domain.
