G’day. This week saw the landfall on the East Coast of Hurricane Sandy, and while our area was relatively untouched, others weren’t so fortunate. Though a weak storm compared to Katrina, this monster caused billions of dollars worth of damage and may even have an effect one way or another on the results of election day next week. I hope those of you closer to the storm’s path are and remain safe!

Our Maine Coon, Rocky, had a teeth-cleaning yesterday, and is feeling a bit under the weather. He’s currently chillin’ with Mister Eccles in my room this morning as I type this. I’ve been reading, studying, and lecture watching for the last several days, and Wednesday was learning the ins-and-outs of accessing the public library’s wireless internet and the academic journal databases at the library itself or using its website via my library card.

Very cool!

Earlier this week, on this site was posted Whedon on Romney…on the presidential candidate best suited to lead us to the Zombie Apocalypse…

Self-Deception: Can we lie to ourselves? & RSA Animate: the Truth about Dishonesty

A bit of Whovian coolness with Doctor Who the anime

The history of the Earth and humanity up to the present, with original music, by MelodySheep: Our story in 1 Minute

Neil deGrasse Tyson on the Argument from Ignorance & UFOs…’nuff said!

On Kate’s blog was posted Cat Thursday: Slinky Cat & TV Kitty…with extreme cutitudinosity.

Over at Left Hemispheres, Sam Harris — Atheist Spirituality & Steven Pinker: Linguistics as a window to understanding the brain

On Doubtful News, Closed-minded: the non-ability to accept results. Psychics fail test & Reverend Bob Larson’s exorcism show is cancelled before the premier!

About Troythulu

I seek to learn through this site and others how to better my ability as a person and my skill at using my reason and understanding to best effect. I do fractal artwork as a hobby, and I'm working to develop it to professional levels, though I've a bit to go till I reach that degree of skill! This is a crazy world we're in, but maybe I can do a little, if only that, to make it a bit more sane than it otherwise would be.

Comments are golden, but I'll not tolerate attempts to defecate on this blog's online rug -- I have cats for that, thank you -- all comments are being moderated.
