cat thursday 2

Welcome to the weekly meme that celebrates the wonders and sometime hilarity of cats! Join us by posting a favorite LOL cat pic you may have come across, famous cat art or even share with us pics of your own beloved cat(s). It’s all for the love of cats! Enjoy!

This week, I bring you lolcats who played significant roles in illustrating skeptical and logical fallacy posts elsewhere on this blog and others. The top three are my own wonderful beasts, unfortunately no longer with us but who I remember fondly for bringing me such joy on dark days. The last two were stock images taken from and personally captioned. Here I celebrate the lives of three of my furbabies with a touch of the skeptical outlook, and hope for the future…

Mew, dammit!

Old Sammy

  1. The first two look like tough cookies lol !

    • Yes, perhaps that breed is prone to badassery. They were both blue-point Himalayans, the second one a Katrina survivor from New Orleans.

  2. Love the pictures, especially of your own kitties. Sad to hear they’re no longer with you though.

    • Thank you. Sometimes I miss my old kitties, then I realize that they are in a state beyond sadness and the cares of the world. I celebrate them, for they made my life brighter.

    • I miss them terribly, but I’d rather celebrate their lives than mourn their passing. They brought so much joy, especially old Sammy.

  3. A survivor is entitled to badassery :)

    • Yes, Gumbyman (his real name was Nedaulec) was a tough old guy. He even kept watch over Mr. Eccles when the latter was a baby to calm him down.

  4. Love the skeptical kitty. I think I’ve seen that look before… ;)

Oh I remember Mistykins. They are all gorgeous. I say that without bias of course. hehehe

    • Thanks, Kate. I didn’t show all that many pictures of Gumbyman before, unlike the two girls, but he would have appreciated the complement as once prize breeding stock by his former owners.

      Glorious beasts all!

  5. Awww, your fur babies who are in heaven were so cute. I love the Mistykins one. Totally captured her expression.

That last kitty looks like he/she is going out for a pass. ;)

    • Yes, they were wonderful cats. We often joke about Eccles being possessed by Mistykins’ ghost, given some of his habits oddly like her own…like scratching at doorways!
