Quid Novi? | The Time of the Kestalus

Namaskar, Oh Fine Hominins! Well, the worst of the weekend storm is past. So now that I’m back, I’m once again shifting gears, speeding up weekly posting on some blogs, reducing posting on others. But which some and which others?

First, I’m going to be posting every three to four days each week on this blog, once a week on the last week of the month (reading time for me!), about once a week on my blogger site the Collect Call of Troythulu, once monthly on the Checkerboards of the Gods, and less regularly on the Exohuman Journals, or the Prank Call of Troythulu, while taking spare hours working on updating the Unspeakable Blogs, and readying Memoirs of a Cat-Whisperer to go live with its first five posts. I’ve also created a new blog using my newly accessed, very first WordPress account, currently inactive and a wee bit inchoate until I decide what the heck to do with it. The account was originally used for my first blog, Troythulu’s Log, created on January 15, 2008, which lasted only slightly more than a year under several titles before it was fully replaced by this one in 2009.

I’d like to spend more time than I do blogging, but I’m currently involved with my first commissioned work on cover art for a book. I’m not at liberty to discuss details of the art prior to the author’s announcement of the book at least until everything’s ready. Otherwise I’ve been busy on non-blog writing, eZine submissions, and finishing work on redoing my solo Kindle ebooks: Dirge, Echoes of Forsaken Galaxies, and Fractal Shards. I’ll post a link and blurb for each here when they’re done and the updates are live on Amazon.

I’m considering getting a personal subscription on this blog once my finances are in order after buying the new laptop, which is well worth the expense in my view!

So stay cool, I’ll see you next week, and in the proper Kai’Siri . . . .

Quid Novi? | My Recent Blog Absence

Hey, O Fine Hominins! I know I’ve been absent from blogging for a while, and I want you to know that I’m not trying to deliberately ignore you or my sites.

I’ve been offline dealing with things going on at home that needed to be addressed, and over this past week or so we’ve been preparing for Hurricane Irma, which even right now looks like one mother-L. Ron Hubbard of a storm.

And I thought Isabel in 2003 was bad . . . utter, utter driveway pebbles!

I’ll back back to regular, or maybe disturbingly irregular posting on teh bloggies once everything blows over, in this case literally, and make time to schedule posts again.

So, thank you all for making this blog one of life’s little joys, and I’ll be back on once things are back to normal!

Quid Novi? | State of the Blogs – 2017

G’day fine hominins! A lot has been going on on study, developing the writer’s craft, and other areas, but what’s going on for the blogs, more a week out of the last monthlong hiatus? What happening?

Not easy questions to answer, but here goes.

I’m currently taking and collating study notes from a course from the Teaching Company titled The Creative Thinker’s Toolkit, by Prof. Gerard Puccio of Buffalo State U. and challenging my own meager abilities in the domains of the creative in service to this and my other blogs, but here’s where things stand now:

I currently operate 5 WordPress blogs, 1 Tumblr site, and 1 Blogspot site for most of my publishing. They are:

The Call of Troythulu, https://kestalusrealm.wordpress.com/

The Collect Call of Troythulu, https://troythulu.blogspot.com/

Checkerboards of the Gods, https://checkerboardsofthegods.wordpress.com/

The Exohuman Journals, https://exohumanjournal.wordpress.com/

My Horrific Elegance, https://troythulu.tumblr.com/

The Prank Call of Troythulu, https://theprankcalloftroythulu.wordpress.com/

…and my hub site currently under revision,

The Unspeakable Blogs, at https://wearethemirus.wordpress.com/

I have named a 6th WordPress Blog titled Memoirs of a Cat Whisperer, which I’ll make public once I complete the first weekly posts, on what what else, cats!, with each post to be scheduled for Caturday.

All blogs are currently scheduled for posting on any given day of the week once weekly to make things manageable for my work and study schedule, while keeping up a modest level of traffic for each site.

Most blogs, save for my Blogspot site The Collect Call, have few formatted post drafts ready for long form entries, though that’s in the works as we speak, and you may expect to see longer posts on these sites before the year is out.

I’ve already published my first interview with GURPS writer, blogger, and GURPS GameMaster Christopher R. Rice, with more interviewees to be added when their questionnaires have been sent, completed, and gathered.

The present theme for most of my WordPress blogs is Bouquet, though that may no longer be the case at some point, as I may update that to something more functional and minimalist in near future.

By the time this post goes live, I’ll have updated the under-construction blog pages on my sites across WordPress.

But I want to take these sites further, and that means good solid data-gathering and planning, areas I’m sadly not inclined to enjoy doing, but which are sorely needed. Over the next few months, I’ll continue restructuring the Categories on my WordPress blogs to something better organized to streamline site navigation, and I’ll be adding a sitemap page to each of them.

I’m doing work on new fractal tutorials for the apps I use, including Mandelbulb 3DFractal DomainsUltraFractal 5, and others, and those will be released on my two main sites, The Call on WordPress and The Collect Call on Blogspot.

So stay cool, for those in the Northern Hemisphere, warmer for those of you Down Under, and as the Kai’Siri would say,

Talotaa frang. Talotaa kas. Talotaa tranga suulaat.

Quid Novi? | The Reset Button

G’day, fine hominins! As of this entry, with my schedule the way it is, I’m a bit behind on posting on all my blogs, and so have hit the reset button on them all.

So, no posting for a month, and instead I’ll spend the time scheduling entries and finishing blog pages in addition to other things until the next reset is needed. I’m behind on completing pages, site maintenance and non-blogging duties and need breathing space to finish that. I’ll be hitting the reset button from here on whenever time is limited and scheduling gets too tight.

Reset time from here on may take anywhere from a week to a month, but I’m not closing down any of the sites or going away from the bloggosphere. Blogging’s what I do, so I’m keeping at it, and I SHALL be back.

I’ll see you in July.

Back in Business Here on the Call – It’s Good to Return!

G’day. I’m returning to posting on this site after an absence of several months, and it feels satisfying to be back after so long.

I’ve new plans for posting here, weekly at this point, with much more visiting and commenting on other people’s sites in between. I’ve been slack on that in the last few years since a certain bit of drama in 2014.

That’s because I’m also posting regularly on all of my other sites besides Tumblr, where I post fractals and miscellanea 5 times daily.

So, pull up a chair by the fire and sit down to chat…

Troythulu is home at last.

Halloween: 2016 – Closing Time on the Call

Happy Halloween, or a joyous celebration to you no matter your holiday of choice!

I knew this day would come, since founding this blog on December 28, 2008, but it’s been an absolute blast.

It really has.

After this entry, the blog will remain online, but closed to further updates. Posts older than one year since this date will be closed for commenting, and this site will continue to serve as an archive.

I’m changing venues to another site for most of my blogging, a site much with much more functionality, one which permits me to sell my work directly, and most of all one which is less burdened by the spectre of time and loss of those passed on whom I’ve come to like, love, and respect.

This blog has seen much history in the nearly eight years it’s existed, and not all of it good. It has seen the deaths of many very close to me, and my work on this site has been deeply affected by these undertones, and the erosion over the months and years of the joy and enthusiasm I began with in late 2008.

I need a change of venue, a place to blog less burdened with the emotional baggage this site carries since the deaths of friends, relatives, online acquaintances scarcely known but profoundly influential, and those of my cats long-gone. It sounds silly and irrational, coming from a non-believer, but it feels almost as if the site has been spiritually tainted by this history.

So, I’m off to a new start, mostly away from WordPress.

Perhaps one day I’ll see a need to return to posting here, at some misty, inchoate time in the future. But I will not promise that. I cannot honestly do so. I simply don’t know what lies ahead.

My new main blogging venue beginning on November 26th of this year will be The Collect Call of Troythulu, with the first few weeks of November being one of preparing and scheduling updates there, as well as study, reading, recharging my cognitive batteries, and relaxation as my new quarterly activity schedule comes into effect on November 1.

I’ll post there each month afterward every other day, with a period of one week or eight days at month’s end to research, rest, read, and review my lessons ready for the following month of updates. I’ll continue posting on WordPress at Checkerboards of the Gods, with an update monthly in keeping with that blog’s topic matter of language use, literature, and writing.

I’ll continue keeping up with those of you on WordPress by commenting on your posts, liking, voting on, and chatting with you on other social media venues you may use. I’d be delighted if you could join me on Blogger or Google+, on Facebook (Here) and (Here), on Twitter, @Troythulu, @Mister_Eccles, or on my Tumblr account at My Horrific Elegance. For those of you with RSS feed readers, my Blogger site has links to updates there, both posts and comments working much like WordPress’s RSS widget. It’s also possible to subscribe there by email.

So, in closing this site, I’ll paraphrase from Christopher Eccleston’s Ninth Doctor’s parting line in the final episode of the 2005 season of Doctor Who, “The Parting of the Ways:”

Before this ends, I just want to say one thing. It’s been fantastic, absolutely fantastic! And D’you know what? So have you!

Thank you all for your support, your friendship, and the pleasure of meeting you online these eight years past. I hope I’ve been worthy of it.

Be safe. Be well. Be brilliant as the stars…. Always.

The Call Bulletins | Moving Plans for November

Screen Shot 2016-02-21 at 00.56.52

I’ve decided on the future of my blogging and decided to move the main focus of my blogging from WordPress come this November, to my Blogger site The Collect Call of Troythulu. I shall be transferring earlier posts during the interim to that venue, and I would be delighted to see you all there as well.

I’ve posted on this site for nearly eight years, and you’ve been a fantastic community to write and art for. But it’s time to move on, or soon will be.

Thank you. Thank you all. You, readers past and present, have made the success of this site, and have my gratitude for as long as I continue to think and breathe.

Why though? Why move?

Well, Blogger really doesn’t see much of my attention, and it has, truth to tell, much better functionality than WordPress and greater ease of use. The Collect Call is, in fact, a predecessor of this site, being the second blog I created after founding my first, the now defunct site, Troythulu’s Log in January 15 of 2008. This site is chronologically the third I’ve created, as I’ve written before, on December 28 of that same year.

But this blog isn’t going away forever. After October, I’ll simply update the theme one final time, and close it for further regular updates, though if I have my way, it will remain online until needed once again. I’ll post monthly thereafter on The Checkerboards of the Gods, my now-infrequently updated writing and wordplay blog.

But until November, I’ll continue to update this site somewhere in that mysterious region between weekly and daily as usual. Thank you for clicking on me.
