Fractals of the Week: In the Domain of Phierce Phractality

G’day, all! I’m going back to my first app, Fractal Domains, for these images, as I thought it a good idea (however delusional that may prove to be…) to revisit it and try out a few ideas with (mostly) greyscale images that I’ve been mulling over.

Some news:

I’ve created 6 new WordPress blogs, each of which will have it’s own particular topic matter and content theme, to be decided for each one as they are being constructed. They are currently private now, though I’m allowing access to those I know well enough to them while they are still under construction — I’ve yet to personalize or post content for them, but here are their URLs. There are 2 others I’ve made the previous night that will serve simply as test-blogs I’ll use to diagnose and fix problems with the others once they go fully public.

Here are the URLs:

…and here are the fractals!

Fractals of the Week: City of Glass 2, Project’s Ends

Good evening. With this post, I’m finishing two projects, the second City of Glass, and my task over the previous couple of weeks in taking and making notes from a set of lectures from the Teaching Company course ‘Philosopher’s Toolkit.’ I’ll be typing those into Evernote over the weekend, and engaging in related tasks over the next few weeks as well, including a workshop from lecture #8 in the series. I’ll have to arrange things with @Ravenpenny for that soon. Maybe later tonight on FB. I simply must get more of my projects under my proverbial belt!

So, here are this week’s images, all ready for enbiggening…

Fractals of the Week: City of Glass 2, the Mirror Realm

G’day, and Mighty Thor’s day, as I bring you the next set of images from City of Glass 2. I’ve been looking at ways to help myself keep track of my projects online and off, as many with my sort of disorder have difficulty focusing on tasks, and as you well know, I’m no exception.

I’ve found that it’s not so much related to memory as it is with attention and ability to focus, so I’m working to improve that. There’s a book I’m reading by cognitive psychologist Fiona McPherson, ‘Planning to Remember,’ addressing that sort of thing,…

…and while I’m normally very suspicious of anything related to the self-help industry unless it’s based on passably solid research (Science!!), and this seems to be just that. But what’s this got to do with fractals?

I’ve decided that a fun way to improve my focus and the ability to block out distractions when switching between tasks would be to use my fractal hobby — as a small part of a larger programme, to improve the quality of my work through practice to an expert level, and help improve through training the efficiency of my brain’s executive functions.

This week’s images represent a portion of that effort, and like last week, I’m posting below another public domain image…just click to embiggen and feel free to rip!

Fractals of the Week: City of Glass 2: Phase R’lyeh

G’day. This installment sees the first release of some new images for this project, with the city being, unfortunately, not a fractal version NYC, much less Gotham, but Cthulhu’s hometown of R’lyeh and all the non-Euclidean strangeness that goes maddeningly with it.

I’m dedicating this installment of fractal oddness to my friend Christopher Rice, AKA @Ravenpenny, who’s not been feeling very well lately, with hope for a speedy recovery. Get well soon, guy. We can game anytime.

I’m releasing a free wallpaper with this installment below. Feel free to rip, and click to embiggen.

So, on with the glassy luminescent weirdness…It’s time to roll a Sanity check!

Fractals of the Week: Project City of Glass 2, Phase 1

G’day. I’ve been working on new images with a glassy appearance to them, at least sharing some of the optical properties of glass, and to an extent, there has been some success, though the results aren’t fully transparent…not yet. But I’m working on that, and recently came up with some very strange pieces that have at least a proper sheen to them.

I’m currently involved in a few projects, in addition to this, some that are in dire need of beginning. I’ve named my upcoming set of installments on rational thinking ‘Project Logicality,’ involving some patterns of formal reasoning as well as basic and hybrid patterns particular to informal logic.

Why?

Because despite its dependence on the richness of language, some formal reasoning patterns do show up, and it’s only right to include them. There are no claims of certainty made for them though — they lend their power by way of their general reliability, usefulness, and strength rather than any alleged conditional certainty.

But I digress. Here are the images so far, and there shall be more of them, hopefully even better looking, over the next couple of weeks or so.
